The University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UAS Dharwad) was established on October 1, 1986, to serve the farming community particularly in the Northern Karnataka. University has been dedicated to advancing agricultural Education, Research and Extension services, earning the reputation of being a “Farmer’s University” over three decades of committed service.

The core functions of the University includes Teaching, Research and Extension in agriculture and allied sciences.

UAS Dharwad has five constituent colleges namely  College of Agriculture, Dharwad, College of Agriculture, Vijayapur, College of Agriculture, Hanumanamatti, College of Community Science, Dharwad, College of Forestry, Sirsi offering degree programmes in:

The Director of Research has 27 Research Stations focusing on various crops, regional problems & technological development in agriculture and allied sectors. It also implements 23AICRP (ICAR).

The Directorate of Extension has 5 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) located in Bagalkot, Vijayapur, Dharwad, Haveri and Uttar Kannada.The annual event Krishi Mela, attracts over 20 lakh farmers
